Why Sikhona?

Across the United States and around the world, a powerful truth is rising: millions of people of African descent are stepping into a new era of identity, innovation, and possibility. Yet the systems we operate within—economic, technological, political, educational—were not built with our empowerment in mind. For generations, our communities have had to fight for visibility, fair treatment, and the right to build futures on our own terms.

Sikhona exists to change that.

Founded by Dr. Michael Thompson, Sikhona is more than a company—it’s a movement, a mindset, and a global awakening. The name Sikhona means “I am here. ” It is a declaration of presence, dignity, and purpose. Through technology, storytelling, infrastructure, and economic empowerment strategies, Sikhona is creating a blueprint for a future where African and African-descended people fully participate in—and lead— the industries shaping tomorrow.

Sikhona’s mission is clear: to uplift, connect, and empower people through innovative technology and strategic platforms designed for global impact.

Its vision: to unlock generational wealth, build political and economic influence, and demonstrate to the world that our communities are not just survivors—we are innovators, builders, and leaders.
